It's the same reason almost no female athletes will say anything about the boy in drag that just smoked them on the track. To say something that, just a few short years ago, like a 3-year-old isn't old enough to be making decisions about his/her gender, would have been totally noncontroversial and have them respond with such vitriol tells you everything you need to know about this movement. They discovered, a long time ago, nobody wants to be called names publicly, and they are using it to their full advantage, cowing people in to compliance under threat of public shame.
