WARNING: Mirena IUD
I have had the Mirena IUD for about 15 months now. I had it put in 3 months after I had my son, before I had a regular period. I haven't had a period since before I got pregnant. I thought this was great. No more pills everyday and no more period. I was wrong. I have been having servere anxiety since. Stressed about EVERYTHING. Lethargic and low energy so much so that simply picking something up off the floor is a huge chore. I have such a low sex drive that I never want to have sex, ever. I have extreme brain fog and can't think clearly. My ability to concentrate and articulate myself properly is completely GONE. I thought I had "mommy brain" or that it was postpartum. It's 15 months later, and it's been way too long for it to be that. I did some research and found ALOT of people saying the same thing. I'm now scared so bad about what I'm doing to my body that I'm getting it taken out in an emergency appointment tomarrow.

I was told that there were next to no side affects except weight gain and acne (apparently common but I never had them). The doctor said, don't worry, it's all great, it's convenient and everything else. Well, it is convenient, if you live a life as a hermit with no human contact!

This is just another example of how we are deceived by our doctors!

Re: WARNING: Mirena IUD
Hey, I am 46, I had one put in at forty five. Due to irregular periods lasting up to six weeks. I assumed it was pre-menopausal and this is what was recommended. Getting it put in was absolute torture and I could not drive home for 4 hrs. I dread the taking out just as much. I have gained about ten lbs and have no more periods either. No sex drive whatsover.

I'm sorry, but there's nothing natural about sticking a plastic contraption up your cooch. That stuff, like birth control pills are deadly. Just use condoms and a lot of prayer. You'll save your immune system a lot longer.

Well, as far as estrogen based contraceptives go, my doctor, who is a hormone specialist told me that they are deadly, cause cancer and wreck your immune system. I used the pill for a year and my immune system is now in the toilet. That an anti-biotics fucked up my body. Stay far away from them.

I had too much estrogen and this was causing the lengthy periods...Mirena is supposed to be progesterone only. That was what I was told.

I could be wrong, as I'm no doctor, but I've never heard of any of them not having estrogen in them. Besides, the wrong amount of progesterone can wreak havoc on your body as well.

Re: WARNING: Mirena IUD
My wife had one put in after having irregular periouds from having a baby 18 months ago. Then she just had one solid period 24/7. FOR OVER 12 MONTHS! Absolutely killed our intimacy time.

Last tuesday she had it removed and had a partial hysterectomy. All fixed (except she is in a HUGE amount of pain for the moment until she heals)

Bloody thing caused all sorts of problems (that mirena)

I'm not sure without asking her what originally caused the bleeding. She has a condition known as Factor V Leiden or some such (clots too easily). I think it started out as just heavy periods so they thought that a mirena would solve that. But instead it just turned into one loooong one.

The hysterectomy was recommended as a solution to eliminate the bleeding altogether. This needed to happen as she was getting very low in iron. In the end she needed a blood transfusion to help the iron levels

I would disagree,

However, being a MOD, such actions are within your power.

No doubt, such an action of your part would please MANY. Especially the BREEDERS and the Christers.

However, I really CAN'T modify my behavior in anticipation of what you, or anyone,
may do. That would be DISHONEST on my part.

So to you, just as to Big G and Jesus Christ, I'll simply say: Do Your Worst.

I have had big problems with no sex drive, anxiety, loss of appetite, and brain fog after I had my kids even without having a mirena.

I was thinking of getting one put in to counteract all that. I will think again. My poor long suffering husband justs wants his wife back and some sex as well!!

i am just letting you know be careful before deciding to get the mirena iud. i got it last year and within a month i had to get it removed due to it infecting my uturus and taking anitbotics to remove the infection only after a year of plenty of syptoms swelling, pain in pelvic and stomach, fatigue, etc.i am still infected due to it. i am on the strongest antibotic right now for fourteen days then go back for possible surgery to correct all of this.with all the pain and suffering that i have gone through and stillam it wasn't worth it.just be careful and go through all your choices.

If your taking large amounts of antibiotics for the "problem" you are causing as many problems for yourself as the original issue. Sure, antibiotics are necessary some times but they wipe out beneficial bacteria in the body too. that throws your intestinal tract and immune system into a tail spin.

If the antibotics are necessary be sure to use a full spectrum probotic and living food multi to offset the results. Your body will thank you!

Getting a tubal ain't no picnic either. Mine's been done twice, yes, redone after the birth of child #3. and it's a hormonal, bleeding, pain in the ass of a nightmare. I never used to have spotting or PMS. Now I am evil bitch on toast 2 weeks out of the month. These are all 'normal side effects' according to doc & 2nd opinion doc.
I guess if you go against nature, nature goes against you?

The Copper T is much better. Not sure why they bother producing one with hormones, the copper works fine and no hormones. I have had my kids, am almost 40, and plan to keep this method of birth control.
