If you are inferring that this could be life, the molecules they found could be compared as finding a three word sentence, if life were the entire Encyclopedia Britannica.

NASA scientists said they found something for the history book owing to the first SAM test on Mars. Later they found the "something" resulted from solvent coming from a broken cup intended for wet chemical tests.

NASA scientists said the results were very good for the first test with wet chemicals.

However, NASA scientists changed their stories for the above. I hope NASA will not change the story for the second wet SAM test on Mars. But, someone told me NASA is about politics.

Play time for kiddies with degrees in Astro physics. They have to have a place to employ these people after they sucker punched them into 6 years of college only to find out the field is impossibly competitive and there is little opportunity, making it easy for those in the club to maintain their status quo about what is real or important.

It's the same with a Marine Biology degree, useless. You will slave and starve most of your life, if you're lucky maybe manage a pet store or at the top teach twice a week as an adjunct. It's just so ridiculously competitive, plus most people don't have the passion for a thing enough to keep going for 20 years in near poverty, on ships and podunk places doing research projects.

After a while you just stop thinking about it and focus on what's left, your own life. I am not wasting it thinking about Mars for countless hours. I'm not going, and I don't think anyone will be going any time soon.

Actually, I imagine it's far more common than assumed.

School textbooks from over 60 years ago nonchalantly theorized that markings on the surface of Mars probably signified some type of plant life. Although life in our solar system is not as obvious as that - and is therefore incorrect - the attitude of writers back then hit close to the mark.

If molecular life is found on Mars that will be about as phenomenal as detecting ice in Anarctica.
