They did massacre Armenians but you should also know that prior to that Armenian nationalist gangs were massacring Kurdish and Turkish villagers (women and children) en masse with torturous methods while the men were at the fronts defending against invading allied forces. Then the Ottoman government planned to deport Armenians to Syria because they were causing trouble with their seperatism and were acting as fifth column for Russian invaders. Armenian convoys were attacked by Turkish and Kurdish tribesmen who sought for revenge or booty on their way. Ottoman empire being a failed state at the time were unable to provide enough logistics and protection to Armenians which resulted in unfortunate demise of many Armenians. It was a shameful ethnical cleansing on our part but people should never forget that the responsiblity lies primarily on the western powers of that time who were using armenians to act on their behalf against Turkish and Kurdish population. Armenians were tricked by western powers to rebel against and ethincally cleanse the Turks and Kurds so that they would get their own state. They ended up getting ethnically cleansed themselves for their actions at the end.
