There are plenty of nasty side effects on the internet if you search it out.

GSK, the manufacturer of Shingrix, says its most common side effects include pain, redness, and swelling at the injection site; muscle pain; tiredness; headache; shivering; fever; and upset stomach. While severe allergic reactions are less common, they may range from hives, swelling of the face and throat, and difficulty breathing to a fast heartbeat, dizziness, and weakness.

In Shingrix clinical trials, the majority of people complained of mild to moderate pain in their arm, as well as redness and swelling at the injection site. About one in six people experienced side effects that prevented them from doing regular activities for two to three days. These side effects were reportedly more common in younger people.

“It causes more reactions than a lot of other vaccines, certainly the adult vaccines that people are familiar with getting,” CDC medical officer Kathleen Dooling, MD, MPH says of Shingrix. “Not only do we expect more people to have reactions from the vaccine, but we expect those reactions to be more intense than things they’ve previously encountered.”

I don't like vaccines, but I get where you are coming from. My aunt had severe shingles that never went away. She eventually died from the effects of the medicine that they gave her to manage the symptoms.

I got the single shot vaccine about 7 years ago and had no trouble whatsoever, but this year my husband's doctor recommended the new, improved two shot vaccine. He got one three months ago and was tired, and his arm hurt somewhat. Then right after I got diagnosed with shingles (in my right glute, so yes, I can tell you that shingles is a pain in the butt) he went for the second shot. Again, tired, some redness at the site, and a bit on the cold side (but a nice warm mug of cocoa with rum took care of that). So, nothing more than the usual for him.

I got the older shot 3 years ago and it was a walk in the park. You got the newer shot. Actually 2 shots. I just got my second pneumonia shot and it was no big deal.

I had no effects from the Zoster original shingles shot about 10 years ago. Then I had the first of the two-dose Shingrix shot last week. It hurt going in and my upper arm was sore for a day or two. I’ve never taken the stupid flu shot and I believe all parents should totally space out the numerous vaccines the kids get. I’m not totally anti-vax just very, very choosy.

I got that and the flu shot in the same arm at the same time and had to stay home from work the next day. But, yes, I've had shingles and don't want to have it again.

I contracted shingles after spending time shopping in supermarkets and drug stores that were heavily pushing the shingles vaccine in their stores. Loads of people were being vaccinated and walking around me and slobbering on their shopping carts.. and within three days, I got shingles.

I believe the vaccine is probably a live attenuated vax, and makes the recipient contagious to others, and that is why I got shingles. The timing is simply too coincidental.

Luckily my shingles was a fairly mild case, and lasted a little more than a week. I threw away the prednisone that the MD gave me-- since its systemic and more dangerous than shingles itself.

I won't be getting the Shingles vaccine as I do not need more aluminum or mercury in my body, and it is now not possible to sue the manufacturer if there is an adverse reaction-- thanks to a bought and paid for Congress..

I spent a long time chelating aluminum and I don't want more aluminum. I will be getting my mercury fillings out soon, and I don't want more toxic mercury from a vaccine, nor do I wish to risk Guillain Bar syndrome.

I've had shingles. I'd rather have them again any vaccine. At least I know what the fuck SHINGLES IS. I don't know what's in those vax and neither do you.

So you got the shingles vaccine 7 yrs ago but then later still got shingles? So what’s the point of being vaccinated.

btw shingles is a form of HERPES. once you got it, you got it.

Most vaccines are free or really cheap, think about why that is.

so I assume you had chicken pox.. why did you get it. I have known several people who took it and GOT SHINGLES.

I have really good immunity to Chicken Pox and no way will I ever take a vaccine again anyway. vaccines .. are behind a LOT OF THE DIABETES and a LOT OF neurological disorders like MS and more.

My own MS came from the "swine flu" vaccine of many many years ago now... and my diabetes from the 2nd pneumonia booster vaccine I took.

How much is this new 2 shot deal? I paid $83 for the older single shot. Cash price was $230 without insurance.

I got my first Shingrix shot at Costco for $164 almost two weeks ago. Aetna, my insurance covers it completely (I am on high deductible insurance). Shot hurt pretty badly when it was administered and my arm hurt very badly for about four days.
