You have to have those scraped out or the rotting flesh just spreads.

I think I was bitten by a Brown Recluse 2 days ago on my thumb.

Missed out on a community wood cutting today, my hand is almost useless.

The Star trek flick where Bones gives Jim shots to get him aboard and his hands swell? Mine is almost like that!

Any ideas? I have 2 trucks to work on this week.....

It's NOT a spider bite - it's MRSA. They are often mistaken this way.

Take high dose turmeric, like 4-5 capsules per day, 1 upon waking, 1 with each meal, 1 at bedtime, for at least 5 days.

You'll see improvement within about 12 hours.

Good luck!

If you can get to a doctor for antibiotics, do it. However, if you cannot, I keep a supply of medicinal charcoal (activated charcoal) available. Pack the wound and ingest some as well. It will draw in the poison. This has a history going back to ancient Egypt even. Please check this article -

Damn!

Some scary pictures! My spider must have been very small.

We delivered a big billy goat 2 days ago to Amish friends.

I put my hand down on a hay bail that was 4' high.
got bit, I was looking at my hand when it happened, never saw the spider.

I've got some charcoal I saved from a US military surplus nuke/chemical suit. Lots of loose powder in the bottom of the legs.
These are 1980's vintage suits and some of the charcoal has come loose from the inside.

Just took a hot bath with 1 cup of Bentonite added.
Rubbed a bunch into my hand for a couple minutes.

I think I'll go find that charcoal and make a poultice.
Last year I got bit by one in my slipper on my big toe. About 1/3 of it turned black and rotted off over 2 weeks....

Worst part was I saw that fucker 3 days before sneaking around my bedroom...should have attacked his ass then!

Re: Spider bites, what can be done to alleviate the symptoms?
dark chocolate has a compound that reduces swelling significantly (not milk chocolate btw). Also, a couple of cups of coffee during the day (caffeine the active ingredient) actually metabolizes to a compound that reduces inflammation. This is what does a lot of the tissue damage, so reducing swelling is important.

We have none in this little town. Nearest is 40 miles away.

Wish I had done that yesterday while I was there shopping at Aldis.....

Just put a gob of charcoal on my thumb and a big patch across the back of my hand.

Not my first bite. First one was on my right fore arm. Fucker drove me nuts for 3 weeks. Itchy it was. dug a whole about 1/4" deep and 1" long. Nice scar left.

This is my 3rd bite.

Anticoagulant or vasoconstrictor

I posted it on many other threads etc. The reason it necrotizes is the tissue spasms and the blood supply constricts.

It is the same ingredient for heart attacks. Patch form, you can stick on there.

If you google: Eisenhower doctor spider airforce one , you will find the corrrect medicine/spelling.

I wonder if bentonite clay would help?

As a slurry or mud, applied topically?
 Quoting: Hnry Bwmn

bentonite clay will work, but if it's anything like the bite I had, it will not be able to keep up with the puss and necrosis. I happened to have PRID on hand because of a splinter I couldn't get out, and that worked way better than clay. Mine was so bad, it took literally a month for it to heal up. You need to change the bandage every few hours and put more PRID on it. Just keep doing it. It's amazing how fast the spider venom eats away at your flesh. Take care and see a doctor if you can't keep up with it.

You can buy PRID at a lot of different places. Maybe an all natural food store would have it, or you can get it online. Here's a link just so you can see what I'm talking about. [link to www.hylands.com (secure)]

Oh...and about waiting to see how it looks in the morning. It will look worse, WAY worse. That's what spider bites do. You'll see. It's actually not bad the first day or so. It gets way worse after that.

I used a baking soda paste applied with a frozen spoon. Alternate to caladryl. About every half hour to an hour.
Frozen spoon...
I had a deep black after a few days is several bites. I put a tiny drop of crazy on it glued on a thin strip of gorilla tape, let it set and pulled out...
Sorry my friend. I do not envy you.

13 years ago I was bitten on shin and from knee to toes swelled up, tore my plantar fascia, gave me nerve damage with hammer toe and bunion toe , had surgery on all three at once and to this day still have a shallow dent in my shin with two purple fang marks.! Pins in my toes and a membrane repair on plantar fascia. From the bite. See a doctor please.

I don't know where they are located, a friend gave me mine because I told her about my splinter, then a few days later, I got bit by the spider.

I checked for locations in my area and found that CVS pharmacy carries it. Like I said, it's going to get way worse fast. You don't want to wait for it to ship. Get to your pharmacy asap. I know there are some 24 hour cVS's around me. Here is a link to check where you can buy it in your area. [link to www.hylands.com (secure)]

Also remember, you're going to experience puss like you've probably never seen before. You need to change your bandage often, every few hours and put more PRID on. The more you draw out, the better and faster it will heal.

Re: Spider bites, what can be done to alleviate the symptoms?
I got bit once and didn't know what it was. Made a hole in my leg. But it hurt when it swelled up. What did I do? I pulled off that scab to let it leak out.

I put a piece of gauze loaded down with vaseline, just vaseline and I would think any type of thick oily cream would work because you do not want a scab on the bite. You want to keep it moist and leaking continuously. You will change the gauze a lot as the pus comes out so carry some vaseline and gauze with you to change as needed.

This will keep it from swelling up and hurting really bad.

Do not let a scab form over it. Let it continuously drain. It will take weeks to go away but I didn't use any other meds on it. These days, I would probably go with some type of antibiotic cream although the vaseline worked for me. I still have a small scar from it. I could put my pinky finger in the hole it made when it was leaking. I would pack that hole with vaseline and no scab.

NO SCAB!!!!

I did not go to see a doctor. I did have a man tell me in the club I was getting drunk in and changed it there because it needed it, that it was a brown recluse bite. I didn't know anything about brown recluses but I was not shocked to find out it was a spider bite because of the condition of the house I was staying at. LOL Good luck. NO scab. This at least will keep it from being painful. You won't even notice it after a while. I didn't.

You might even be able to work on those trucks once the swelling goes down. I don't see why not. stoner

Do not allow the pus to get on anything else. It will cause any other sore or opening in the skin to become infected just like the spider bite is and it will also react like a spider bite just not as bad. Yes, I found this out from experience. So you might want to cover your hand with a rubber glove when you are working on stuff so you don't spread the poison to anything you touch. And wash your hands when you deal with it. Be careful.

Personally I'd go to the doctor and get antibiotics but I don't know if that's an option for you. There was a thread on here about a guy with diabetic ulcers who was going to have his leg amputated and coffee, I guess used as a pack, saved it. You might want to check that out. But I'd still go to a doctor or ER.
