Someone who's identified (by the NY Post) as a cousin of one the victims was interviewed. The person's brother interviewed was kidnapped by a local drug cartel in '09 Or was he. The account I read said they didn't pay ransom. Maybe there was no one to pay ransom to because it was a cover story for punishing someone who in essense "talked" publicly. I find the account given by Julian LeBaron to be suspect. As well as Lafe Langford. The story of the kid walking 14 miles does not add up if Julian is there before the flames are out filming. Why did it take a kid walking hours and hours to report this if Julian is "documenting" the burning or A burning vehicle? The girl who supposedly walked 5 miles was skipping, laughing and walking barefoot at the hospital on video. Why would she do that if she walked that far barefoot they said she had no shoes. Why would she do that if she witnessed this horror? I am no sure what I find credible in the accounts so far. |

Has anyone been able to complile what the initial reports to this story to what they are now? Starting with the changing number of those dead. Comparing the changes to the alleged destination. What is the current disposition of the supposed vehicles? Were they all more or less following each other or were found miles apart from each other? In other words, were they traveling together but then separated when the three were in escape mode? The stories of dealings with "cartels" according to the family were separated by 10 years from the alleged kidnap/murder of Benjamin Lebaron, to this event this past week. So, they got along in between? There was a daily struggle so that the family was fearful to travel along hiways? Or that was a bullchip cover story for both? Anybody compiled a timeline and noted the descrepancies and would you start a thread to discuss just the details being reported and any changes thereof? |

Referring to the accounts of the incident provided by the children who survived, LeBaron called it an “ambush.” “It couldn’t have been a mistake,” he said. “This is terrorism, plain and simple.” ..... The group’s trials were the stuff of local lore long before drug cartels entered the frame. Over the past decade, however, leading members of the LeBaron community have distinguished themselves as outspoken opponents to the growth of cartel-related kidnappings, extortion and killings in Mexico. In 2009, the LeBaron community made worldwide news with a harrowing stand against a cartel in Chihuahua, not far from the U.S. border. A 16-year-old member of the community named Erick LeBaron was kidnapped and held for a $1 million ransom by a local drug cartel. The community assembled and decided not to pay the ransom but to wage a public campaign to pressure the government to take action and secure Erick’s release. Miraculously, the teen was returned without a cent changing hands. If, by standing up to narcos, the LeBarons had briefly inspired Mexico with hope, their refusal to submit also appeared to infuriate a local cartel leader. Jose “El Rikin” Escajeda, who lived scarcely eight miles away from the prosperous settlement of apple, pecan, and chili farms known as Colonia LeBaron, ordered a team of armed assailants to take revenge. Two months after the dramatic kidnap standoff, Benjamin LeBaron, who was Erick’s older brother and a leader of the protest campaign that helped secure his release, was abducted from his home in Colonia LeBaron along with his brother-in-law Luis Carlos Widmar, who had come to help. Both men were shot and their bodies found at the side of the road a short distance from the community with a message attached linking the killings to the family’s public calls for increased policing in the area. (Escajeda, the alleged ringleader of a drug-trafficking family that runs a 120-mile smuggling corridor along Mexico’s border with Texas, was soon arrested for the murders.)
