If you haven't seen it, you should check out one of Burt's last films "The Last Movie Star" it's really good. In a way maybe even his best movie?

While THE LAST MOVIE STAR is a good swan-song for Reynolds, I found it a little too poignant seeing him so decrepit.... but even so, by God he was still WORKING!!

I liked THE CREW much better; filmed in 2000 [17 years before THE LAST MOVIE STAR], it showed an older Burt displaying his famous comedy chops playing Joey "Bats" Pistella. In THE CREW he shares the screen with Richard Dreyfuss, Dan Hedaya and Seymour Cassell as aging Miami mobsters dedicated to saving their equally-crumbling retirement home from being taken over by Yuppies... and higher rents. So, they band together to pull off one more scam in a twist on WEEKEND AT BERNIES.

And, it's really funny to watch those guys ham it up. Give it a look and see if you don't agree!

BTW: about 6 months before his death, Burt made a special appearance at the grand re-opening of a casino in Dodge City, KS [adjacent to the original, preserved 1880's Front Street/Boot Hill Museums] and it was really sad to see his hunched, shrivelled body struggling along on a four-pronged cane being supported on both sides by guys dressed like cowboys. But he still had his trademark Orange-lensed sunglasses and thick hairpiece... and a big crowd of fans -old and young alike- showed up to cheer him on!
