I moved to Santa Barbara in 1967. That was a year of lots of earthquakes, always with the provision that the Big One is coming within the next 30 years. 52 years of warnings so far.
No doubt it will come but geologists have no idea how to predict an earthquake, whereas smart people watch the animals and then hunker down with the animals run for the hills.
