Why was there a News Blackout on the California Wildfires? Houses/Structures destroyed, Death Toll, Etc?

If you go to weather.com, there's a link to "Donate to the victims of the California wildfires" except it doesn't state how many people died, or how much loss of property occurred.

It is absolutely incredible how the media can make huge events instantly seem like non-events.

So, does anyone know the real story? How many people actually died, how many houses and buildings were actually destroyed? Because within the first few days of the fires, they were already stating that they had found human remains. Then, nothing..............

So nobody knows anything? just business as usual? Nobody died, no houses or structures burned down, the claim of $24.5 billion in damage was just made up, and the fires were just fabricated fake news? I see. Carry on with the bullshit then.
