You become targeted when God starts to open your eyes to the truth

In other words, when you become a "saved" candidate.

They target you in hopes that you'll give up and go back to sleep because your life was much easier.

However, if you persevere and "give up your life" for the love of the truth, you will in turn keep your life. You'll lose everything and hit rock bottom while being persecuted.

The only post that hit the nail on the head. This is exactly what is perceived as "gang stalking". It is just demonic torment to try and get people to fall back in line with the Satanically controlled world since God has put a special blessing on them or a task for them in their lives. Like the OP said, they are either saved or a candidate to be saved. The time of being a target is to test them and refine their faith and strength in the face of persecution and adversity.

If you arent targeted or never have been persecuted, you should ask yourself what you are doing wrong.

Being saved is not an easy task and I dont believe there are any free rides, but I could be wrong

It makes sense that anyone being allowed into the kingdom of heaven would be meticulously tested, poked and prodded.

Kind of like getting a security clearance. Making sure you wont crack under pressure or be susceptible to blackmail.

Over time, God opened my eyes to the spiritual reality behind this phenomena. I'm sure there are people who are actively part of organized harassment campaigns, but most of the individuals are just oblivious humans who don't realize that something is jumping through them or what they are doing. Totally like that movie Fallen where Denzel asks the guy "why were you singing that song?" and the guy is like "what? What song? I was singing??"
