Anti-christ HAS to be a descendant of David.

He is supposed to be a false Christ who imitates the real Christ. He will not be accepted as king unless be meets the criteria of "messiah" -- the first of which is that he must be a descendant of David. So the AC will not be a Turk or a Muslim or a European.

Here's the thing: they always had a priestly class who kept track of the descendants of David. Even after the temple was destroyed and they were driven out of the land by the Romans, they preserved the genealogical records of the sons of David.

During the exiles, some of them were selected to be exilarchs (i.e., princes of the diaspora). I believe they continue to rule.

There are thousands of potential moshiach candidates living today. When the time is right, they will start installing the most qualified ones as "moshiach". Of course, he would just be a figurehead representing them. Once his term ends, another will take his place.

The official anti-christ will be from among those kings.
