Okay.

Any asteroid with a close approach is an ideal candidate for capture and mining.

Very small adjustments to the orbit can cause a close swingby of Luna or Earth to slow and capture the asteroid into high Earth orbit.

Wiki's take on it:

[link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)]

I don't see a type (M,C,S, etc.) but many near Earth asteroids are burned out comet nuclei. As such, we would expect them to have a high percentage of volatiles including water inside.

At a diameter of .9 km, I estimate the amount of recoverable water to be in the neighborhood of 40 million tons.

When processed into liquid hydrogen and oxygen, that amount of water would allow us to use nuke-thermal engines to begin exploration and colonization of the entire inner Solar System.

Build an island with consecutive waves of land outward from that spot.

You will need to start immediately, it's a massive job....it will lesson the overall impact, in the end.

These fucktards with 'space' at their fingertips only think of escape, in stead of mitigation...
