The holiday season is almost here...already.
How time flies!

And this year, Thanksgiving is late in the month, coming in on the 28th.

And that night/next day, we will be entertained by the 'Black Friday' shopping spree caught on video. If you thought the Popeye's Chicken Sandwich was causing a bit of commotion, just wait for when Wal-Mart has a few big screen T.V.s for sale on 'Black Friday'

That got me to thinking, how much our culture has changed.

I remember when every City Hall and Town Hall in America would proudly display a Nativity Scene starting about this time each year. I really enjoyed seeing those huge Nativity displays, especially at night, when the lighting would make it glow.
Something about it made me feel good. Now, they are all gone.

What the Nativity Scene demonstrates is a sense of a shared cultural identity, a sense of Holy, and a belief in Hope for the world. I'm sure it means more than just that, and that is the point of this post.

Do you remember Nativity Scenes in front of government buildings?

If you do, share a comment, story, thought, or idea. I just have to wonder, when the Nativity Scenes disappeared, what else did we lose?

I so miss the Nativity scenes.

Saw a live one in the Netherlands in 2009 and just about cried as I hadn't seen on in my native country in years.

Before I moved here to Ireland, the people across the street from me in a really small town in Texas where I lived got sued by the city for having their Nativity scene - on their OWN property - too close to the 3 ft of right of way.

I enjoyed that Nativity Scene.

We've lost so much! I don't know where to start.

People used to be so cheerful and full of "God Bless" and "Merry Christmas" years ago. Gone are the days of secret Santa's and Christmas carolers going door to door. Wouldn't want to happen in on a family of Muslims and offend them. Used to be people just enjoyed the happiness of the season and didn't worry about the politics of it or take offense. Christians were celebrating the birth of Christ while others, who didn't believe in God, were celebrating the season. What happened to those times of tolerance?

Thank You for your heartfelt response!
Here's one of my favorite Christmas Tunes for you.
Ahh...I know it's a little early for Christmas
But if you blink, it will be here and before you know it...
New Years.

P.S. I'd love to hear more about Ireland and what Christmas is like there now. Probably the same NWO b.s. if not worse. Oh well, we make the best with what we got! Got Guinness?

-Peace! {And I sent you a Green Christmas gift!}

In France they had them inside government buildings.

Now no more. Those Mayors who tried putting them up were sent to court.

They have been banned from public places because they offend Muslims.

The same with the name Christmas tree and anything that has the name Christmas in it. A lot of cities have shunned Christmas trees or at least decorated trees.
