I know that normal weapons won't be of much use. Hand to hand and vulnerable is how I'll have to approach this. Plenty of spiritual preparation is necessary. I hope you still intend to carry weapons, because spiritual enemies are not the only you may encounter. If you're walking through the mountains, you may get attacked by a bear or something. Many of these disappearances may have a mundane explanation as well - like murderous societies that kidnap people and sacrifice them in caves. Normal weapons work on those kinds of evil. If you're going to seriously delve into this, you don't know exactly what you'll be up against so prepare for anything you may encounter.
