I can't find a job

please just go to a temp employment company, manpower or express temps or worksource or whatever.

these places have become employee "filters" for companies.
They are used to weed out "non-workers".
I did it for a year or so, warehouse, packaging, cleaning , stuffing envelopes, spraying stuff with a hose, clearing out garbage, light office work-filing (which turned into a short term legal research job at a library)

there are a ton of retail vendor jobs that are always hiring for short term work(work as a vendor inside Target, walmart, Home Depot) I did that for almost ten years part time for multiple companies

ok so i'm starting to look into it and it says first step is hooking up with a distributor so any suggestions?

Every place in town here is hiring. I guess I have to ask what is the reason you cannot get a reference? Why did you get let go? Certainly there is SOMEONE at your last two places of employment (co-workers) who can give you a reference? What do you think your bosses will say about you that is bad?

I've been laid off several times throughout my career and started over with $500 left in my bank account. During those times, my job was to find a job. Not bitch and whine on GLP. I still have headhunters contacting me for jobs, even though I retired in 2016.

I'm not special. In the past when I was out of work, I was constantly on the internet looking and applying for jobs. There were times I never got responses for weeks. You need to realize that out of 100 applicants, about 10 would be selected for phone screen interview. Out of that 3-4 for on site interview. I don't think you understand a 'headhunter' gets paid on commissions. It's their job to sell you to a perspective employer (usually contract work).

So get off of GLP, write and post your resume on LinkedIn and start networking with people on there. Search job postings online and keep applying. I would apply up to 15 jobs/day during my search. Always follow up too. That shows initiative and interest to a perspective employer.
