“I’m not coming to Thanksgiving at your house because I know you buy crap food”

Haha. My invited guest just said This to me for real.

I invited a friend who was going to be alone and she said no because she had “high values” for herself with proper food. I could not guarantee that it would be a free range turkey, or all organic vegetables and everything gluten free even the gravy. (I told her there would be many gluten free options and she could bring something gluten free as well) Never mind the other guests who want to have at least some gluten options. I was gonna invite someone who smokes occasionally but would never do so in our house and she said “you know I am allergic to cigarette smoke” to which I said , no problem, he won’t smoke unless he goes outside. Then she said “but does he SMELL like smoke? Wtf?

Are these issues really more important than spending time with people? Especially flexible people? And f her too because I did buy organic veggies and usually do unless not available and she knows this. She used this invite to say something she thought would be hurtful to me for some reason. Could of simply said “No thanks, I have others plans”. I am actually really relieved she did not accept after that comment. No more invites for her.
