Guys on Bushcraft USA been building them for a decade. Its plastic painters drop cloth on the front and a tarp or natural back to it. The long wavelength radiation from the fire goes straight through the plastic. I bought Mors book 7+yrs ago.

If interested in tested functional Bushcraft gear at very reasonable prices check out Bens Backwoods. He is a personal friend of Mors, and I have ordered from Ben for 7+yrs. He is an honest Christian businessman that knows the game as well as anyone. I just got an email from Bensbackwoods today and he has everything 15%off.

Thanks
I bought painters plastic specifically for this purpose but have never used it.

You say tarp or natural back but my understanding is the whole point is reflective mylar. That's when the magic works.

Candle inside uses oxegen.
These will never be comercially available because idiots will die in them.
Fire and lawyers don’t mix.
Anyone stupid enough to start selling them will lose everything in a short amount of time.
Bushcraft is for the crafty.
Simple to make, or take the material to a tailor.

Yes mylar or the aluminized 5x7' grabber blanket/tarps. I have never built on though. No interest in it. I have a couple 10x10' Bushcraft Outfitters tarps that I set with trekking poles. I run a stove or small fire in front of that and sleep in a tent.

Quality tarps are worth every penny. The Etowah brand Bensbackwoods offers are the company that makes my old Bushcraft Outfitters tarps, but the tabs on the new ones area attached better then mine. I have never had issues with my 7+yr old ones tho. I am hoping to buy a lighter weight silnylon tarp before spring.

Benbackwoods has been in business for 15yrs, hence his current 15% off sale. 15yrs! Guy was been doing it long before it was cool, and he will make time to offer free advise on gear if you call his business.

I forgot that Ben offers exactly what you asked for. He calls it the MSS Multipurpose Survival Shelter and it has attachemnts for the aluminized Grabbed blanket on the back. All you add is the plastic drop cloth over the front.
