Can Roman Catholics point to scripture where it states that I must pray to Mary? | |

All activities and spiritual direction should be in harmony with Sacred Scripture, yes. But nowhere in the Bible does it say that Scripture is the only rule of law. The Church gave the world the Bible (in 397 A.D.), not vice versa. John 21:25. There are also many other things that Jesus did, but if these were to be described individually, I do not think the whole world would contain the books that would be written. 1 Corinthians 11:2. “Now I praise you, brethren, that in all things you are mindful of me: and keep my ordinances as I have delivered them to you." (referring to verbal, not written, direction) John 16:8-9, 12-13. “I still have many things to say to you but they would be too much for you now. But when the Spirit comes He will lead you to the complete truth…All He tells you will be taken from what is mine.” I Timothy 3:15. But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth. (The Bible refers to the Church, and not the Bible, as the "pillar and foundation of the truth”) |
