Can Roman Catholics point to scripture where it states that I must pray to Mary?

People were having a wedding party, and the host had forgotten to get enough wine. Jesus didn't give a shit about that kind of Earthly problems, but his mom kept buggering him to use his divine powers to conjure up something to drink, and eventually he turned some water into wine, just to shut her the f*ck up.

Ever since, Catholics have used the strategy of asking Jesus mom to "intercede" on their behalf and bugger him with their inane requests until he gives up and gives them what they want.

And Jesus helped them if he thought it was appropriate to do so.

The water to wine episode is different, because Jesus only did it because he couldn't say no to his mom. And that's why Catholics have latched on to it.

There’s nothing that says you must... but also, Catholics don’t pray to Mary, they are asking Mary to pray for us. The most common prayers are the Hail Mary and the Magnificat:

The greeting of Elizabeth to Mary and
The greeting of the Angel Gabriel to Mary

Hail Mary:

Hail Mary, full of grace
The Lord is with thee
Blessed are you among women
and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus
Holy Mary mother of God
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, Amen

Note the last line is asking Mary to pray for us...

In this canticle that Mary sings, the lines state that “all generations shall call me blessed” which is what people do when they recite the “Hail Mary”. It says that Mary is glorified through God. She reminds us that God is merciful.

The Rosary is comprised of the Apostles Creed, the Hail Mary, and the Our Father

The Our Father is found in scripture: Mathew 6:9 where the disciples ask Jesus how we should pray, it is the prayer that Jesus recommends

So the most common prayers about Mary are all biblical scriptures. The scripture that shows that it is appropriate to address Mary are at the Wedding at Cana, (John 2:1-11) Jesus respects his mother’s wish to perform a miracle giving the bride and groom more wine by changing water into wine even though it is “not yet his time” to reveal himself. This shows that Jesus listens to his mothers wishes as a powerful intercessor for human’s basic needs.

So Catholics are asking Mary to intercede for us to Jesus, not answer the prayers herself.

It’s not worship, and Mary is not “dead” she is more alive than we are. God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is “not God not of the dead, but of the living” (Matt. 22:32; see also 22:23-33).

She plays a pretty prominent role in Revelation 12.

“Behold the handmaiden of the Lord. Let it be done to me according to your word.” -Mary to the Angel Gabriel after being told she would conceive the Son of God despite being a virgin.

Catholics do not worship or deify Mary. But her submission to the will of God brought our Savior into the world. She is the Mother of God. Those in Heaven are very alive.
