George Lucas got all kinds of concessions from the studio to license the brand & merchandise toys because the studio execs had begun to believe their own lies about Sci-Fi. Lucas cashed in big. Another one of the few good ones from back then is "The Day The Earth Stood Still," but you may like the remake with Keanu Reeves better. "The Blob" was another decent one.
