I'm sure the magnetics must be 'squirrely' Any type of avionics must be very heavily affected. And chaotic in it's influences.

My father in pre-GPS days could navigate a bomber over 6,000 nm to its target over polar navigation routes. He even taught me navigation using a combination of celestial fixes with inertial navigation equipment and accurate time references. These methods aren't impacted by geomagnetic interference. I've still got his sextant in storage. Of course they also used LORAN/ADB radios as well. However, those are subject to interference and jamming. How do you think spacecraft and astronauts navigated in orbit and to the moon?
