This is so inspiring, WG; first of all, thank you for those many years of service in your job - it sounds like you were continually bombarded with humanity's negative activities. I am imagining that you have so much experience and information which you could impart for others, but I also imagine that - in present circumstances - very few would believe you, as you already mentioned below. I anticipate that later on, circumstances will change and that your voice will be heard.

Nature is very healing. Congratulations on changing your path.

I am a police, fire, EMS and 911 dispatcher/operator. I’d say it is a useful and meaningful line of work however, it slowly drains the life out of you. I used to be an incredibly active and healthy person but after a decade of sitting at a desk for 12 hour shifts and listening to all the crap society has to offer I have suffered. My health has declined, my sense of humor is macabre and most people would think I’m uncaring but in reality I’m just jaded and cynical. The majority of society sleepwalks through life, content with their routine and do not want to deviate from it. The reality is that all manner of horrible/evil people exist and do nefarious things on a constant basis, day/ night, and you will in all likelihood never hear about it. Most people prefer it that way, to stay willfully blind to the evil and accidental horrors of the world. After 10 years, I know better. I work directly under the Office of Emergency management and I consequently am a very prepared person.

This in a way relates to what I wish to do as opposed to what I actually do. I have worked dozens of jobs over the years...HVAC installation and repair, general construction, server/waiter, bar back/bartender, welder and steel fabricator, hazardous grade electric installer...etc., etc., but my true passion is living a “simple” life on a homestead of my making in the countryside, raise a few animals, grow some food, hunt/fish...and I am in the process of signing on my best friend to my business license as a 50/50 member so we can create outdoor living products for people who love the outdoors and similar adventurous lifestyles. Like anything else in life, all it takes is time and money and motivation.
