Religion is basically this:
- I am better than you, although I don't say it, I imply it condescendingly
- You will suffer a lot because of what you are. Be like me unless you want to suffer
- Blame anyone and anything but me for everything. Since I'm better, it must be something else
- God is there. Can't see, can't prove, no evidence, no nothing, but he is there

That's not it's sole purpose, although the elite utilizes it for that purpose.

It's purpose is also solace in situations of grief and suffering.

Look around. Something is terribly wrong with this world. If there is a perfect God out there, I would want to be under his control. Especially if he loves me and only desires for me to love him back.

But which one is the right god?

Religion isn't great. God is great.

Religion is filled with men and men are broken hence wars, genocide, ritual abuse.

All those things men did prior to Jesus arriving. All those things men will do until they instigate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ which begins with authentic repentance.

There is no need for religion. Just you, the word of God, and an open and repentant heart.

God does not seek to control you. If God wanted to control you he would not have given you freewill to reject him.

None of this will make any sense until you actually get on your knees and beg Jesus for mercy and forgiveness for being so arrogant, selfish and for all the hurt and harm you have caused since you were old enough to understand right from wrong.

If you do that and are earnest, the truth will reveal itself in your heart. Words will be meaningless. You will know.

Christ isn't about encouraging a moral society or dealing with fears of death.

It really is all true. We were made to walk with God and not have evil desires.

He came down to his own creation, suffered and died for the very people who killed him. Time is short for all of us, run to Christ while there still an offer of eternal life, you don't have to be controlled by any organization, go to the Bible yourself. Read Romans or one of the gospels, it's all based on historical fact. It's reliable. It's the most reliable ancient text we have with thousands of manuscripts written within decades of the originals prior to 100AD. Christ rose from the dead and change the world to the point our time changed from Before Christ to AD.

It's actually all real, and blowing my mind on a daily basis. I studied psychology, I thought it was a way to encourage a moral society, then I actually studied it from a position that wasn't biased against it. It's all real. All the atheist and secular arguments against it fall apart.

You are absolutely right religion is a form control op. But God being real, And Jesus being real, And the Holy Spirit being real is not religion. Once a person experiences that first hand religion is out the door. It's a matter of experience. Unfortunately when ever God is mentioned the first thing that pops in people heads is religion rather than a relationship which is a big difference.
