wet snow (ice ball) will not melt as fast as you "think" it should. It is thermal dynamics at work. The ice ball has more thermal mass than the lighter flame.

Do the same with a oilfield tiger torch and watch the ball turn to water in under 10 secs.

The lighter has very dirty gas in it. Take a clear glass jar/bottle and hold lighter under it. See the carbon it produces?
