A magnetic pole flip to the equator would follow shortly after, drawing the Earth's magnetized crust with it. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77726703 the past movement is increasing exponentially. i predict that it will move thrice as much as they predict. And nothing gonna happen I have my own theory that the magnetic field helps hold our rotation in place. It prevents the Dzhanibekov Effect. The magnetic field is created via lenz law through the rotation of the core. As the core's rotation slows to match the earths, the field is weakened. This weakening causes it to drift. Eventually it moves and weakens enough that it can no longer prevent the Dzhanibekov Effect and a physical pole shift occurs. This is needed in order to recharge the magnetic field. The physical shift causes the core to rotate opposite the crust providing for increased current flow that strengthens the magnetic field again. Its the only and natural way to keep the magnetic field in check. |

EARTH'S MAGNETIC POLES SHOW SIGNS THEY'RE ABOUT TO FLIP—EXPOSING HUMANS TO RADIATION AND PLANET-WIDE BLACKOUTS Quoting: Skip. 65507635 "Our planet's magnetic field protects us from lethal levels of radiation from phenomena like solar rays. The dangerous particles never hit us directly, because upon entering the Earth's atmosphere the magnetic field deflects them and forces them to move around, according to NASA. So the prospect of that field weakening, which it does when it's getting ready to flip, is worrisome: It would leave us without sufficient protection." [link to www.newsweek.com (secure)] "These fingerprints sometimes are well hidden amongst the heavy footprints of uniformitarian evidence. The two disciplines - uniformitarian geology and cataclysmology - find no real contest between them; they complement each other, and actually a marriage of the two schools is in order." CT '65 The Baghdad battery wasn't the invention of stored electricity, it was a crude attempt of the survivors of the last cataclysm to get that technology back. Personally, I am not convinced that there were extremely advanced civilizations that long ago. However, I am in the electroplating business. Some in our industry think that the crude batter was indeed used for electroplating gold onto lead ornaments. So, they were scamming the rubes with fake "pure gold" jewelry over 2000 years ago. The ingenuity of man. Another theory about human progress is that "aliens" gave guidance, for example, to the ancient Egyptians on how to build pyramids. If the aliens wanted to really help, they could have shown the Egyptians how to smelt iron ore into steel or how to make machine tools and lathes. I think the truth is that some ancients figured out geometry and mathematics before the time of the Greeks. That along with massive amounts of physical labor could account for the pyramids. My own hypothesis: Humans have been breeding dogs and livestock for desirable traits for tens of thousands of years. With the absolute control that rulers and priests had over vast populations, they BRED smarter humans. By careful breeding you could have an army of geniuses in three generations. Really smart engineers using primitive tools and materials to produce astounding results...that I would believe. |

Do you really think it took billions of years and we just figured out modern technology in the last hundred? The fossil record of the ancestors of humans provides a lot of evidence. Nevertheless, there are puzzling anomalies that indicate we don't really understand the past. I think that once humans began to develop intelligence, it progressed rapidly. Every primitive stone age tribe was in a constant state of warfare with their neighbors. The winners, often more intelligent with better tactics or improved weaponry, took possession of the women of the fallen group. Thus, the most intelligent and fit spread their genes rapidly. Ditto with our prehistoric ancestors who figured out a way to have a reliable, abundant food source, e.g., a better way of killing mammoths or drying salmon. They multiplied like rabbits and passed on those genes for intelligence and creativity. I once had a job herding a bunch of scientific geniuses at my aerospace company and getting the government to fund them. They came from many countries and cultures, but what intelligence! No aliens had to help them. The progression of tech is accelerating at an accelerating rate. Alvin Toffler demonstrated that. YES, we have gone from horse and buggy to space exploration in a century. Hopefully, it will not be 100% lethal. |

(WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW RIGHT NOW?) ... Quoting: Skip. 65507635 What if we are the ancient aliens? Our species is AWESOME! And we are about to go back to the caves. Litterally. In one generation everything we know now will be totally gone....the stuff of myth. If I am able to save ONE thing during a cataclysm, it will be my LIBRARY. If I have to go underground in a shelter for years, I will have a printing press and paper to create copies of important books. If it looks really bad, I will make copies of the most important onto clay tablets and fire them into ceramic. Just imagine how fast we can recover if even ONE important book such as the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics were to survive. That one book took generations of scientists and engineers to accumulate, prove, and publish the data that our civilization runs on. The other very important type of info to save is DNA. Plant seeds, important animal species, and even the best of humanity that took thousands of years to reach where we are now. This is one of the reasons I don't buy the hypothesis that there was a very advanced civ before us. We would see more evidence of such. I'm convinced that we recovered plenty of technology from the previous root race but it was hidden until the last few decades. They didn't let us have it again until it was almost time for the next cataclysm. You can see how well we handled that information... the world became a fucking idiocracy over night. |

Very astute observation, I feel that there is a lot to this event, not just A causing B resulting in C. So the astute observation is not the proven fact of the asteroid changing out climate (and how it means OP's conclusion on the cause of the ice age around 12k years ago is not on-point) but the astute observation was 'that asteroid could have been part of an unproven planet' bro. OP has lost all credibility to me because he literally chooses to ignore real data and instead praises unverified statements. Crazy. I'm having to repost this information because you can't be bothered to read through the thread. From a few pages back: It has been stated in this thread that there is a magnetic reversal around every 12,000 years. So that would be 12,000, 24,000 and 36,000 years ago. (Give or take.) Look at this information from Michael Hoffmann MD, PhD back in 2015: [link to i.imgur.com (secure)] [link to www.google.com (secure)] Looks like a cycle doesn't it? I'm not denying the cycle yo. What I'm denying is your claims on the location of the magnetic field because you keep ignoring the fact the magnetic field has been moving at an exponentially increasing speed over the last many decades, particularly in comparison the the last few hundred years. The reason this is important, is because your post is claiming the magnetic pole has ABRUPTLY stopped its rapid increase in movement speed, when there is no literature to suggest it has even slowed down. Does this make sense to you OP? Can you respond to this now? |

Does this make sense to you OP? Can you respond to this now? These aren't my claims and they aren't my numbers. I got the information directly from NOAA's website. They are the ones estimating that the north magnetic pole is slowing down and rounding the geographical pole. Up until the last couple years, magnetic north had been racing towards the axis of the Earth. Now that it has passed it, they are estimating a turn in direction. |
