Re: Please recommend a Pellet BBQ
Go with a normal Big Green Egg grill (they have a few different sizes), they do everything and their charcoal is 100% natural not glued together sawdust (maybe they don't use anything dangerous to bind the dust into pellets but do you really know?) Also the Egg can be used as an outstanding smoker, a wood fired pizza oven, a baking oven, an all day+ slow cooker, a normal grill, the uses are endless and you can literally cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner on them. They also use much less charcoal because when the Egg itself heats up, it's so thick it retains the heat effortlessly. Get the big thermometer if you get one, that way you can easily see that you're keeping the heat within 1-2 degrees of where you want it, it's easy and will go for hours like that. You just can't compete with any other type of grill.

Just never use liquid lighter fluid in them, or pre soaked charcoal bricks, the inside of the Egg will absorb the fumes, it makes your food taste like it. They even say you aren't supposed to use newspaper because the ink gives off fumes. I have their electric element plug in starter, it glows red and ignites the charcoal nice and clean. When it's all said and done maybe the Egg got some grease splattered inside, maybe the discoloration from smoking in it has it dingy, well it's time to throw a few pieces of new charcoal in the bottom open the vents top and bottom, now it's really hot and self cleaning itself. After it cools off take a soft brush and wipe away any ashes, bingo bango it's pure white inside again...wow like the day it was brand new. The outer part isn't painted it's a fired on glaze so it looks amazing uh-forever, even the metal handle parts and hinge for the top are perfect, I've had mine at least 8 years now.

I'll second the BGE. I went with the large in size. It's probably my most prized possession.

Mine is a Cableas unit, just like a Traeger works great. I love, but I still use a gas grill sometimes for quick cooks.
