MLB pitcher signs deal to make over 98,000 dollars a day the next nine years
New Yankee Gerrit Cole signed for $324 million over nine years, which averages to over 98 thousand dollars a day, or over $4,000 an hour, every hour, over the next 9 years.

Please discuss, and feel free to compare this to your own earnings. Also, please be sure to let us know if you are making more than this, and if so, how much more?

I didn't believe you, so I ran the numbers through a calculator, and sure enough....shit!

I divided by 9 (9 years)
I divided by 12 (12 months per year)
I divided by 4 (4 weeks per month)
I divided by 7 (7 days in a week)
I divided by 24 (hours in a day)

Holy Shit.....just over $4,000 an hour, 24 hours a day, every week, every month, every year, FOR 9 YEARS!

To do what?
Throw a ball?
Well for that much money, he better strike some batters out!

Hope a good part is guaranteed because pitchers are notorious for getting injured due ot the stress of throwing a baseball.

Money laundering and embezzlement. These man children are putting in work under the table to pull those figures. Drugs, hit men, who knows - all good professional athletes are criminals in disguise. Then they float out their golden boys like Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez to take the attention away from all of the criminals in their ranks - and it works every time. You do not accidentally shoot David Ortiz in the back over a case of mistaken identity. How stupid do these sports networks think we are? Remember Aaron Hernandez?

As a pitcher he'll only play 1 out of every 5 games. Or about 35 games a year.

He is going to make over 1 million dollars PER GAME!

Hell of a risk signing a pitcher to a long term deal like that. I would have loved to see the Dodgers get him but for that kind of money I'm glad he's going elsewhere.

How can they afford to pay that much? Probably 25 other players on the payroll also.

How much is a damn ticket to watch a ball game now? $500? $1000?
