I need help with the day to day stuff. I can't clean up dog excrement continuously... I have to deal with health insurance companies, attorneys, health providers wanting their money, a 6 year old child and all that SHE needs.... etc. and I am doing this all on my own...
 Quoting: PugTard

Can you rehome the dogs?
 Quoting: callit

I would LOVE to rehome the dogs... but that is out of the question. She calls them her "heartbeats" and would never allow that...
 Quoting: PugTard

Hmmm...It seems when solutions are out of the question. The questions become moot.
Love hurts sometimes.
Attachments can become anchors.
Letting go is painful, but necessary sometimes.

Consider the welfare of all animals involved as well as the human beings.

What would honestly be best for everyone involved?
 Quoting: callit

Those are VERY good questions...

I honestly don't know the answers...

At this point, I am just trying to look out for the best result for the 6-year-old girl who is involved in this. She is adopted but her mother means the world to her, and I am the only father that she has ever known.

I wish that there was a "reset" button and I could somehow get rid of all these dogs (even though I do love each one of them)... and that I could take back the cancer that is killing their "mother" and that I could erase the memories of the 6-year-old girl that we are raising.

You got any advice POOL?
 Quoting: PugTard

ween. ween, then ween some more. The child comes first and always always wear your big daddy britches to make decisions. If a dog has to go, then send them out in pairs. Let the sickest get mad as hell, that helps them heal. hugs

Sheesh... That's tough man.

The answers can only be whatever you choose.

You've gotten this far by making choices.

Our situations as human beings are always circumstantial. Past choices brought us here now. Wherever that might be. Knowing what we want is the first step. Devising a system to get what we want, and following through would come next.

You want to take care of a child and Mother?
Is that a full time job?

Could you hire someone to take care of the animals?
Or, perhaps temporary rehoming for some of the animals?
You could start a zoo?
You could start a thread!

It's funny that were talking here.

Start a thread dood!

You got this.

I REALLY appreciate your commentary on this. It is a very difficult situation and there are no clear answers. The fact that you have taken the time to 'attempt' to give some choices for me is very heart-warming. I DO truly appreciate the effort... Thank you So much!

Yes, the child always comes first...

Eventually, all the animals will fade away and go to their happy places. I will make sure of that!

One thing at a time though...

Slowly swap all the dogs for cats. She'll never notice. Then turn the spare room into a litter box. A side benefit is friends will think you have an indoor Zen garden.

there isn't any girls on this site.
it's a fact
 Quoting: QCluminati

I’ve been on here for a long long time. I’m a XX, but very shy and retiring. Always an AC, started off young but am now old.

There XXs here, but you don’t see or hear them but they may come through as whispers and echos during your nightly dreams. Too shy and maybe too fragile to engage with you directly - but we are here, adoringly reading your posts, laughing at your jokes and marvelling at your creativity, passion and insight.
