Probably a good time to float the theory about the Pacific warn blob is equal to being a mini Siberian Traps playing out underwater.
The rising magma flows west and east. It meets the magma flowing west from the Atlantic Rift in a line that goes from Hudson Bay.CA to the GOM. The suction on the crust will eventually make that a connected waterway. The magma that flows to the center of the 'ring of fire' meets under Hawaii so the little volcano is from a bit of pressure caused where all the magma meets that ends up going to the core to replace the magma that rises under the 40,000 miles of oceanic rifts that circle the globe.
That magma would have been the cause of the huge glacial lakes east of the Rockies as well as that heat being the part that weakened the ice dams that caused the floods that created the Pacific-Northwest Scab-lands. One theory has that happening every 60,000 years during a major ice-age. That 60,000 years would be matched across the globe as all 40,000 miles would spread faster and that is releasing a lot of heat than can and does change wind patterns when it mixes with the air.
The Pacific Blob dries out California and that war weather moves north to BS and the Gulf of Alaska. The interior will see westerly winds change to northerly ones that are much colder.
Hudson Bay will be the coldest part of North America.
Lake effect snow when the Gulf Stream is carrying the moisture would see the east coast get snowfall that follow the pattern the Great Lakes set, only larger so a 50ft snowfall should be more normal rather than rare if ice gets to be a mile high (or so) again.
