Couple in Ga. scammed out of $500K trying to buy African gold
Only an IDIOT would fall for such a scam.

Police say the scam started seven years ago, when they tried to buy gold from Africa.

After getting strung along for years and milked of money, they are just now reporting it to authorities.

Neighbor Anna Conley says she's seen her fair share of fraud as a banker.

"There's elder abuse, where folks come in and scam elderly people," she said.

She says she wasn't surprised to hear about a scam that cost a Roswell couple $500,000.

"They're naive and they take things for granted," she said.

Must be nice to have 500K to just blow!

I feel bad for them but if it wasn't these people it would have been somebody else. Stupid people with large amount of money are doomed to be screwed out of it, it's a natural fact.

I've seen this and it is happening all over the country. Foreign scammers seem to have a list of the elderly still living on their own and prey on them over the phone and thru the mail constantly. The government does nothing because they don't give a shit. Too busy sending money to the Ukraine and funneling it into their own foreign accounts

Health insurance companies doing their best to steal everything from the elderly too, especially in floriduh where they all go like mice on a wheel chasing a carrot-on-a-stick

Its terrible what some companies do to the elderly in AMERICA!

I've seen it first hand, a repairman, or other sales guy shows up and bleeds the elders dry. Do they have no shame? Judas was the disciple that was known for his love of money. Claiming on numerous occasions how instead of giving to those in need, they could keep it and save it for even more wealth! And so it was judas who betrayed the Lamb of God, for only a few shekels of silver...

Only the elderly? Not so. Look at these scams:

".....schemes that resulted in the theft of at least $6 million and the attempted theft of $40 million more from victims in more than 10 countries..."

* The scammers victimized individuals and small and large businesses.

* In targeting businesses, they used a tactic called “business email compromise,” also known as CEO fraud. Under that scheme, a fraudster gains access to a company’s computer system and then, posing as a company executive, tricks an employee into making an unauthorized wire transfer into a bank account the fraudster controls.

* In 2014, a San Diego clothing distributor wired nearly $46,000 into a bank account controlled by one of the scammers, believing it was paying a Chinese vendor for an order of men’s shirts.

* In 2016, an unidentified Texas company was tricked into wiring $187,000 into a fraudulent account. The company thought it was making a payment for an oil extraction equipment order.

* in 2016 a Japanese woman lost more than $200,000 during a 10-month romance scam with a fraudster who impersonated a U.S. Army captain stationed in Syria.

* romance scams cost Americans $143 million last year, according to the Federal Trade Commission.

I own a logistics company. We get calls all week from dumbfucks getting scammed by foreigners promising to ship them gold.

The people who fall for it are usually old and live in flyover country. Or very dumb single, middle aged women who made “friends” online with a US “service member” who has come across gold plundered from war.

The people call saying they paid out thousands and their fake tracking number for their fake shipment is not working on the fake website.

Low IQ shit all around. You can’t fix stupid.
