That was at the exact same day as when Bush started the bombing in the Iraq war. With Malaysia being mostly Muslim, there was a security concern for all Americans as a result. Here we go again. |

Lack of affordable housing is one of factors driving the Yellow Umbrella movement six months on, as low-rent neighborhoods that might be easily gentrified for twenty-somethings grow increasingly unfriendly to non-Islamics. Ruled by Sharia patrols after dark, locals and tourists alike are given the message. Hong Kong is no longer a hospitable, fascinating get-away to visitors from around the world. Very sad. . |

I would think the above is rather common! We were based in Germany during the 70's (military). Same warnings were given to us frequently. The threat of Russia. We had a baby who was born there. Besides the baby, I always wondered what I would take with me if I had to return to the USA. I always kept the important stuff.... paperwork, documents, passport handy if we received a moment's notice to leave. Last Edited by nutmeg on 01/07/2020 10:07 AM |

First time I will ever be out of the USA will be in 2 weeks. Going to Chiang mai, Thailand. Flying Qatar airways. Layover in Doha, Qatar. It figures. The first flight I ever took in my life was one month after 9/11 in 2001. |

Anybody else overseas and getting one for the Embassy where you are? What bar ya work in hunny? Any pics? My uncle visits there. |

I’m in Chiang Mai and of course no problems here except it’s dry season and the air is getting bad. There’s a Muslim community here but forget all that Muslim boogey man crap you hear here. They’re part of the community and have been for hundreds of years, really nice and they have some great restaurants around the mosque near the Night Market. |
