Your reality is an illusion.

When a TRUTH is introduced to your limited perceptions, it causes your beliefs to change and becasue your reality is formed from your beliefs based on inaccurate perceptions, it appears your "reality is breaking itself apart".

Such is often the case when someone or something dies / changes form.

It takes some time to readjust to the new level of awareness resulting from the change in perception.
