We have about 50k people living in the middle of very dense Eucalyptus forests on the outskirts of the city. There hasn't been a big fire go through there for a very long time. When it does they're all fucked.

Clearing the underbrush would have prevented such a gross loss of properties all round....that's the point.

Sprinkler systems on their roofs, would have helped in some places too.
