But we'll see... after that failed Iran doom.

DOST-PHILVOC lists Mt. Taal as a super volcano. If you live in Philippines, then you should know that Lake Taal is a huge caldera.

I looked at the link but can you please point where is it listed as a "super volcano"?

It is labelled as a "complex" volcano, is complex = super?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8311493

The largest lake is inside a large volcanic caldera that was produced hundreds of thousands of years ago by a catastrophic eruption by a supervolcano that was thousands of times larger than Krakatua. Inside the lake is a smaller volcano and lake with a small island topped by a relatively new volcanic crater.

Taal is only 1,000 feet tall but don't let its small size deceive you. It has a deadly history. The worst of its numerous eruptions killed thousands of people in 1754

 Quoting: Ostria1

I corrected it to complex volcano Some sources cite it as a super volcano similar to the Yellowstone and Mammoth Lakes calderas. How do you think that huge caldera known as Lake Taal formed? Complex just means there are over a dozen volcanic cones within that caldera. It has the volcanic potential as a super volcano as Mt. Pinatubo when it erupted in 1990.

Thickish ash fall over everything outside right now where I am in Rizal, up north, which you would think is far from the eruption site. Also I feel a mild but disturbing hot, thick something in the air as it enters my throat. Hoping it's psychosomatic but I don't think so... If you stand outside, you could actually feel the ash falling all over you. Oh, shit!

It was a supervolcano long ago of course that I knew, I said it's not a supervolcano on the current context of Taal and wiki doesn't list it as a current supervolcano. Mayon is much more memorable to me, as it was hyped more at school back then.

But we'll see, a VEI6 is within DOOM levels.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8311493

Setting aside the "supervolcano" argument, Taal IS listed as one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world. It is definitely not "a shit volcano" as per your original post.

A shit volcano if it is not global doom (global cooling effects) like Pinatubo's VEI6 at minimum. MAYBE for us it's DOOM, but on a global scale not really unless Pinatubo level.

Can you imagine if Pinatubo erupted today in combination with a 'bagyo'? Now that would be really DOOOOOM.

Listening to the English-Tagalog channels they seem to be wanting to evacuate people in a 10-15 km radius from the volcano. That's about what 200 000+ people? Something about Airforce and army help with evacuations.
If any foreign minister begins to defend to the death a "peace conference," you can be sure his government has already placed its orders for new battleships and aeroplanes.

The Volcano's are erupting in order to try to cool the earth by spewing ash they block out the Sun. Soon we'll have coinciding eruptions of multiple volcano's at the same time.

specialist's estimation:
Judging from the pictures and initial reports of ash-fall this seems to
be a small to mid-sized VEI-3. No columnar collapse base surge occurred,
and no tsunamis or seiches took place. As such this was about as
well-behaved as Taal can be. At least so far.
