It would have major consequences on climate, harvest... and for Manille which is close to the volcano and has 1.6 million habitants... Last major eruption was 5000 years ago. Hopefully nothing bad will happen. |

But that's the thing with this volcano. It is capable of anything, from VEI 1 to possibly VEI 8 ! Anything is possible until the eruption stops completely. Nothing will happen Great! Yep most likely nothing will happen. Since 1572 the volcano Taal erupted 33 times. No explosion was major. At the same time, the current one is one of the most severe, with a VEI estimated at 4. None was higher than 4 since 1572. To find a major eruption, we need to go back to 5000 years ago. Which also means that we are overdue for a bang. |
