Some targets can only be tortured, that's obvious to me now. There are secret rules of engagement in place protecting them from anything other than that.

Are we going to have discussions behind closed doors about whether we can bomb factories filled with computers and cyber-terrorist actors, state or otherwise?

I bank with TD CanadaTrust, and I know they're fucking with my bank's website, it's been happening for at least half a year now. It isn't necessarily showstopping but it's annoying and highly disconcerting, like I'm always checking to make sure I'm not being phished. And then I'm like, "Nope, this is just how my bank's website works now I guess." And now the Pickering thing?

I'm not saying that they should change the rules of engagement for certain actors, I'm wondering if it's eventually going to have to come to that? Because it's certainly not on me to make that kind of decision, thank God.

But then again, who really knows exactly what's going on? I'm operating on certain presumptions that I can't even be sure are true or accurate, because the media is always lying to us.

Re: When are they going to change the rules of engagement of this new war?
Wouldn't it be crazy if they were all deep underground, and the only way to hit them is through EMP, but they can't do that because enough states have EMP that it would be mutually assured destruction?

So we just keep fucking with each other through micro and not so micro cyber-aggression and the like.

To quote Elaine Benes, "War, what is it good for?"
