OP, I agree and disagree.
From the beginning outsourcing has been around.
At one time the South produced huge cash crops of rice, indigo, turpentine, then cotton.

Then the cotton mills of the South ( early 1900's) made the rich, richer on the backs of cheap southern and child labor then all to move to a different Country when the cheap labor dried up. ( Civil war, Unions, Child labor laws etc).

As I walked through Walmart, Ross and Hamrick's shopping over Christmas I had the thought if we have a war with China the store shelfs will be empty of everything except food.

Then I thought in just the last 25-30 years I have seen consumer electronics ( The CD DVD player etc) move from the USA to Japan, then Malaysia / India and now to China.

From what I understand and have noticed is even your classic Japan brands such a JVC, Sony, Panasonic, Cannon ( Think Panasonic TV ) are hurting as Samsung Korean manufacturing has killed the Japan manufacturing market.


My thoughts are even without a war with China the manufacturing will move away from China in time as someone or some country can and will make it cheeper.

Think what North Korea could do if Kims cards are played right. Kim could be the new China manufacturing everything as his people would work for less many.



I get it OP as now my Converse Chuck Taylor high tops require Shoe Goo to keep the things together as the quality has gone to crap.

Converse, proudly made North of Charlotte NC years ago I now find I can no longer even buy a good shoe that will last. Its sad but I don't think the manufacturing of over seas goods will ever come back as the supply will simply keep moving around the world to whoever will work for the least money.

It is a sad state that WE, the consumer settles for China Junk! I hate the stuff and when I can I buy new old stock or used USA made if I can find it.
