Under Demonic Oppression: Beware Gluttony!

“Gluttony seems to be a sin that a lot of Christians like to ignore. Most Christians won’t hesitate to label smoking and getting drunk as sin but overeating at a buffet is accepted or tolerated. God has blessed us with many nutritious and delicious foods for our pleasure but it should be eaten in modest proportions.

The dangers of overeating goes beyond health risks and a flabby waistline, but shows a lack of self-control which is one of the fruits of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22). Christians ought to control their appetites rather than their appetites controlling them.

The Bible warns ‘Do not mix with winebibbers, Or with gluttonous eaters of meat; For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, And drowsiness will clothe a man with rags’ (Pro. 23:20-21).”
