That's 5,000 cases, not deaths. Czech has seen higher than that before.

70 new deaths is getting high for a country that size tho. (US per capita equivalent is 2100 deaths).

Especially if it's going to be like this all winter.

I should simply have said that my mom's neighbor is an anti-masker, which he is. Now he has to wear them to get into stores, though he tries to get around that whenever he can. He's a very sweet man, and I'm grateful as heck to him for being there for my mom. I just wish he would protect himself, as well as her, and not buy into the "masks are bad" stuff .. and the downplaying of the seriousness of this pandemic. She's actually known him since before I was born ... he's 90, and still drives ... but they're both very vulnerable due to their age.

Of course Trumper's aren't all bad ... we have several here on this thread whom I love dearly! And, not all "maskers" are democrats, by any stretch of the imagination. The most conservative woman I know, locally, has been wearing a mask during flu season for years... and she was also one of the first people to catch how serious this pandemic is.

It's ridiculous how politicized the mask thing is. I inadvertently played into that with my statement about the neighbor, and I apologize for that.

No worries on that. I do have some bad news, though. With your mom's neighbor being 90, wearing a mask isn't going to happen. My town has a large retired population. The women that age all seem to be wearing masks. The men, not as much. I really think they don't understand. It doesn't fit with their life experience. They would've been born after the Spanish flu, but they will remember having to quarantine for measles, etc. That was a pain (according to my grandma), but temporary. It sure didn't last as long as this has.

Going back to work is hazardous now. My former employer is a perfect example. They still have construction crews traveling all over the country and coming back to Indiana, coming into the main office, and no one wears masks or maintains social distancing. And I guarantee you they are traveling into states that have quarantine rules that they are not observing.

I can't wait until they have an outbreak so I can flip them the I-told-you-so-finger.

You know it's going to happen, Riff. The only thing I think is going to happen in the near future, is they'll keep it all on the down low.
