We shouldn’t underestimate the risk of new variants. Indeed B.1.1.7 changed the course of the pandemic in the UK and has spread across the world.

But the overblown media coverage, premature claims of vaccine escape and ridiculous use of terms such as “double mutant” has to stop.

Never before has a virus been so well monitored in real-time, and our genomic surveillance capability is second to none. But it feels like this has led to a paranoia and sense of impending doom that a new variant will inevitably emerge that will set us back to square one.

None of the variants of concern have been able to get much of a foothold yet in the UK against B.1.1.7.

Meanwhile the vaccine rollout is progressing superbly well and we will have boosters in the autumn (for vulnerable groups at least) that should be able to handle new variants.

In my humble opinion the general public should worry less about what *might* happen, and try to ignore sensationalist and alarmist individuals and newspapers.

We should be vigilant, but reassured that we’re monitoring everything closely, and the road map remains firmly on track.

You should never take the first unnecessary swings at AC’s, they will get you back every time.

AC response is right, people’s current lifestyle, find themselves in their own predicament for various reasons. Some folks, no fault of their own and some folks by purposeful choices.

Some people in suburban/city life, live near jobs that offer tremendous pay, some live in city near hospitals for health reasons, some live smack dab in the middle of suburban/city that offers multiple upon multiple stores, restaurants, grocery stores which keeps prices cheap and more competitive versus a small town. Some people live in the city due to being their hometown, some people live in city due to relatives, and some people just enjoy living the city life.

Now the opposition lives in rural areas for some of the same reasons. No reason to write another paragraph about the “farm” life. But I could.

The fact is, many people are parked in their home because of personal choices.

I have lived on both, rural and suburban and they both have their benefits and advantages.

Now you want to talk finances. Some people are good at math and some people are horrible at math. Plain and simple.

Me, I am very very good at math, but I do not dare tout my circumstances, because I know others whom are in a worse situation, and are making due with what they have, the best they can.

To me, it looks like you just like to jump on here and toot your own horn and seek appraisal. Kind of like the red hair that would never ask how anyone was doing but always talk about herself.

And I really really despise people whom place themselves on a higher pedestal. Just as I despise people whom feed off the weak and vulnerable.

We are all different and find ourselves in different situations for various reasons. It is called life and everyone rides it differently. Have a little respect for people’s circumstances.

For every new month, the circumstances of Covid is ever changing.

The way we approach Covid has always been improving. The treatment of Covid patients and the experience of Doctors and Nurses has vastly improved. ( I assure you ventilator care preCovid, was not the best ). We now have vaccines. Public’s Education of Covid far superior then in February 2020.

But sensationalists and alarmist have never changed their tune. For the past 12 months. In fact, in some ways the outlook has become worse. When one prediction fails, they move to the next and the next and the next.

That analogy makes absolutely no sense, with all the continued doom scenarios versus the increasing improvements of Covid.

As far as more deadly mutations, even the experts are hesitant on what will happen.

Basically boils down, Two different kinds of people.

The realists and the sensationalists

Dr. Geert Vanden Bossche has been promoting the idea that population level COVID-19 vaccination can cause emergence of dangerous SARS-CoV-2 mutant variants capable of immune evasion. Therefore, he proposes that the world should abandon en masse COVID-19 vaccination.

This is potentially catastrophic error in scientific reasoning.

2. Vaccines don’t provide immediate protection.
3. COVID vaccines may not prevent you from spreading the virus.
4. Masks protect people with compromised immune systems.
5. Masks protect against any strain of the coronavirus, in spite of genetic mutations.
