My thoughts are we are simply not mixing. We have developed some separation and masks are working. Most schools are out, so you do not have children bringing it home to parents. No holidays are occurring right now. Also, the weather is a factor, it is cold and icy many places, so people are just naturally hunkering down.

Remember that there is a new way to be determined to be a "case" according to the guidelines. It makes it harder to be scientifically defined. It does not mean it is there, you are just not defined.

Also, the new variants have not had the time to spread. I think we will have another way before summer due to the variants spreading. It is not over until it is over.

I have not. Despite all the wonderful info and advice here, I am too chicken. Hopefully, I will not have long covid. I'm pretty sure that I have a very mild case, otherwise I might try ivermectin. I know people irl who used it successfully.

So far I'm improving on vit d w/k, c, zinc, magnesium, essential oils, and green tea. I have quercetin and melatonin on hand as well.

I believe they are going to open the schools first, see if positive cases increase and see where we go from there.

I guess there's never going to be a right time to open up the schools, let's see what happens...

Another thing happening here, have not enough friends working in construction, but husband of a friend whos company working on buildings on different sites in the bigger cities got a notice last friday that he and colleagues have to stay home. Like in 100% stay home. He didn't tell why exactly, if it's shortage of construction materials as he don't know.
I posted it in the construction thread yesterday but they keep talking about shortage/high prices of lumber and quality of screws.

So he who works a trade that was and should be really in demand as there's usually a shortage of construction workers and handyman here, with many overtime hours working, is now full time at home.

It's called kurzarbeit here, as people are not let off but get paid 60% from their income (after taxes) not from their employer but from the Arbeitsamt (which is tax payers money).
