Most cases are mild, and it is mostly a problem within China.
But everywhere outside China they councel the meetings, festivals, fora, etc. and lose a lot of money.
It just doesnt make sense.

And while all of this is happening I am watching CNBC this morning. Just now Bob Pasani was saying how the financial markets think that this is a "nothing burger". He said the consensus is that if the situation gets better than the economies and markets will recover by the second half of the year. If things get worse then the central banks will come in to prop up the market and the economy. So they really aren't worried about Coronavirus right now.

This just shows you how the elite of the world don't care about the plight of the average people. We are just cattle to them. If 700 million of us are on lock down (martial law) they don't care, as long as the money keeps flowing into the markets and people keep making money.

You have to come to the realization that this really could be both an ELE and a "nothing burger". Both can be true, which shows us how shitty our species really is. It makes you wonder if you should care at all about what happens. Do we deserve this?

Could be several factors:

1) more lethal than regular flu, no herd immunity

2) rapid economic decline will lead to large decline in demand

3) profit losses will require reducing expenses, such as travel to conferences

4) risk of key employees getting sick

Also I think they're not explaining that the time from contracting the virus to possibly being hospitalized or dying from the disease is anywhere from 2-6 weeks, so it can be a long process, much more drawn out than the flu. Seems like that point is obvious to us here but not being explained at all in any press releases.

The headline is misleading. The virus cases are supposedly mild in 80% of the cases. But for something that spreads as easily and efficiently as this one does, the 20% of serious cases are enough to completely overwhelm any medical infrastructure...as Wuhan has shown. 20% is a HUGE and dangerous number. Serious isn’t a day or two in the hospital receiving fluids...serious is being on a ventilator with massive efforts required to keep you alive.
