Host Nation

Last week, I identified that Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, South Korea and Taiwain would become the next hot spots.

Japan and South Korea are beginning to rapidly cook off. Both countries are beginning to experience second generation human to human transmission among people with no travel history outside of the country, and in Japan, several medical staff are infected.

What sets these two countries apart from the rest in particular is that they are the host nations for very large U.S. military bases where service members intermix regularly with the local population.

A decision soon needs to be made to place these bases on lockdown, otherwise the risk of widespread infection among U.S. military forces becomes very real.

This is especially true for Yokosuka- an outbreak there would be what has been witnessed on Diamond Princess only multiplied three times over.

Army barracks are especially at risk as well as was seen in the 1918 outbreak.

Unless prudent steps are taken, these areas could become potential breeding grounds as well as vector points for return into North America- 200 times greater the amount than what has already been brought back to quarantine centers on bases across the U.S.

A scenario like this one would be the greatest threat for cross pollination out of the general Asia region so far.
