If you have a climate where coconuts are plentiful, the charcoal made by burning coconut husks is IDEAL for homemade water purifiers. You crush up some coconut husks, add it to a large cannister with a lid, and heat that on a campfire with the lid perferated so it gets less oxygen. That forms real charcoal. Charcoal is wood that has been heated and domv,busts but with an inadequate oxygen rate.
