Couple points of disagreement:

1) I disagree that most/many folks would get fired for taking time off during a crazy deadly pandemic. I've owned quite a few small businesses and employed a lot of people, and I wouldn't even come close to firing someone for that.

For starters, sales/income would probably be way down (or even officially closed down by the government), so the need for employees would be way down. Second, I already and have always told my workers to stay home when sick (and that the thing that would get them fired is coming in sick and risking the health and productivity of others).

Many Americans will get laid off due to lack of need, but very few Americans will be fired for staying home from work.


2) Also disagree that the government "isn't going to suspend your mortgage, car payments, creditors, student loans, etc." I think they absolutely will, not just because it's logical to do so, but because if they didn't, the citizenry would revolt and replace those in government with people who will.

This is one of those 'Act of God' type things that demands such actions. The government would never be able to get away with forcing mandatory quarantines and then penalizing the quarantined people for not being able to work. That would be too unjust to fly here.

Interesting timing. They knew about it 5 days ago but rosenstiens sister decides to do this during the presser.

Your experience does not reflect mine in the least in this life, perhaps you've had better fortune. I've had worse. I deal with people every day in my line of work who are at their last leg seeking the last little bit of help they're going to get before they perish. If no Chinese goods are inbound to collapse the supply chain, no embargoes are needed. They self embargoed. They have a pliable population used to communism and working all day for nothing. With the proper culling, either by the state or by starvation, they will probably do OK. The US on the other hand will be a mess. More than half of the population are on mind altering drugs, Rx or not. Probably 75% by now. Almost none of the US has experienced hardship and are in much worse health than the chicoms overall. The chicoms all smoke for sure but they are not fat and happy. The fat and happy and the end of fat and happy will kill before the nicotine ever will. This is starting to make sense for an intentional release for the sole purpose of killing off the weaker west.

There is a small portion of the west who is self sufficient and who can fight an army but in the grand scheme of things, they are the anomaly, including me.

I doubt they are invading but by releasing this onto themselves as a way to cut off the production, while retaining the factories and all of the IP, they can come out on top on this one after the west collapses. How many Chinese are on psychotropic drugs? Not many.

Nebraska state officials are asking people to self-report recent travel to 10 countries. You would think this would easily come up based on US passport inquiries.

At some point, it may be unwise to travel through counties with infections as if you go there to get gas, you might end up getting fomites or human-to-human transmission from the cleark at the register.

This is why I have warned Kentuckians not to go to Lexington KY in Fayette County. And in my opinion, I would not go to Louisville (Jefferson County) either

If you can stay home, or at least avoid known areas where people are infected (true positives) or isolated (under suspicion of contact with the infected), you are better off.

It's inevitable that some cases will spread from urban areas.

According to their posts, people think:

It's media hype.
It's the same as the flu.
You can't catch it on the next island over (Canaries).
It dies at around 70 degrees F.
If you wash your hands you will be fine.
Stocking up on groceries is stupid.

If you don't have supplies to last a home quarantine does that mean you automatically win a trip to camp FEMA?
