Hospitalizations dropping every day in Georgia. I don't know where Gottlieb is getting his data, but this site has been very reliable.

Great numbers for a Friday.

[link to www.ajc.com (secure)]
 Quoting: R. Wordsworth

From what I can see, Gottlieb posted the data showing new hospitalizations. Whereas what you posted shows the total hospitalizations which will soon start rising again if the trend of new hospitalizations keeps up.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77841583

Even his chart was inconclusive, to my eyes.

When it comes down to it, in my opinion current hospitalization levels were due to an initial outbreak that was orders of magnitude higher than reported numbers.

With current mitigation measures I feel that hospitalization numbers will drop below that of what you would see from seasonal flu.

That's already the case in NYC, which had one of the worst outbreaks in the world. They are actually lower than what they would see from the flu right now.

If we can hold at those levels, we can open society and live with the consequences of this bug.

(January 11, 2015) Live for ever: Scientists say they’ll soon extend life ‘well beyond 120’
Fixing the ‘problem’ of ageing is the mission of Silicon Valley, where billions is pouring into biotech firms working to ‘hack the code’ of life
– despite concerns about the social implications. In September 2013 Google announced the creation of Calico, short for the California Life Company.
Its mission is to reverse engineer the biology that controls lifespan and “devise interventions that enable people to lead longer
and healthier lives”. Though much mystery surrounds the new biotech company, it seems to be looking in part to develop age-defying drugs.
In April 2014 it recruited Cynthia Kenyon, a scientist acclaimed for work that included genetically engineering roundworms to live up to six times longer than normal,
and who has spoken of dreaming of applying her discoveries to people. In March 2014, pioneering American biologist and technologist Craig Venter
– along with the tech entrepreneur founder of the X Prize Foundation, Peter Diamandis – announced a new company called Human Longevity Inc.
It isn’t aimed at developing anti-ageing drugs or competing with Calico, says Venter. But it plans to create a giant database of 1 million human genome sequences by 2020, including from supercentenarians.
In an office not far from Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, with a beard reaching almost to his navel, Aubrey de Grey is enjoying the new buzz about defeating ageing.

Well... I suppose everyone else in this thread must be dead from COVID.

At least I have my threads. Enough conspiracy threads to peruse for the rest of my life. And all the time in the world... time enough at last.

Here's June, July, August, September. Where to start... here we go...

That's... that's not fair. There was time now. THAT'S NOT FAIR!!!

Last time I tried something like this the thing wasn’t sharp enough and I felt like an idiot as I whacked all the weeds and they stood right back up.

I definitely agree regarding the power grab aspect of this whole fiasco.

Do you agree that there won't be a resurgence / second wave? I can't wrap my head around why Brazil is seeing such number, but here in the US we aren't after basically opening things back up.
 Quoting: CLYMER

I believe 100% that the re-opening won't lead to a second wave anywhere near what we saw originally.

It's also hard to believe that we won't see at least a bit of an uptick from where we are now once people really start getting back out into society.

The question is, how much of an uptick... that increased amount of infections might still be less that what we are seeing right now, once all the cases from the initial outbreak work their way to resolution.

If the rebound ends up somewhere around where we are at right now, I think society as a whole would find in manageable to deal with until a vaccine, treatment, or herd immunity is reached... if possible.

Brazil's outbreak started way after the US, just like the US started way after Italy.

But long story long... no I don't think the second wave will manifest.

Based on the recent data and with states having been open for a while now...

It's really looking like there may not be a second wave or surge of cases.

Really gets me wondering about the validity of this whole crisis.
 Quoting: CLYMER

The social distancing is part of it. Warmer weather is also. Even though, the warm temp doesn't affect the actual virus, the fact that hot air dries up faster, is part of it. The air doesn't carry as long in hot weather as it does cold. Plus, people are probably in the sun more. So, the bad part is, that people will start hugging, kissing, shaking hands soon. That will bring the r0 up to about 3 in my opinion.

Hospitalizations dropping every day in Georgia. I don't know where Gottlieb is getting his data, but this site has been very reliable.

Great numbers for a Friday.

 Quoting: R. Wordsworth

The thing is, while several states are now considered "open" there are still many people who aren't going out in public and doing the things they would normally be doing, visiting the places they would normally go to. Shit, even Atlanta is still under a "stay at home" order and yes that's in a state that is considered re-opened.

So yeah. It appears the new hospitalizations are starting to tick up again in state(s) which have only partially re-opened. (They aren't trending down at the very least). That's just pretty awful news because it doesn't look hopeful for being able to keep the covid under control if the re-openings are ramped up.

But that's just me.

Of course you would say that, given that you call the data bullshit...

The cases in Texas are exploding... but wordy ignores all data that doesn't fit his view. Literally just two days ago he was using worldometer, but when it posted record- high numbers yesterday he called it bullshit.

No they aren't. Have you looked at today's data? New cases down 50% from yesterday, and hospitalizations are down about 15%. This is directly from Worldometers, which lines up with the Texas website now.

Yesterday was a reporting hiccup.

Well... I suppose everyone else in this thread must be dead from COVID.

At least I have my threads. Enough conspiracy threads to peruse for the rest of my life. And all the time in the world... time enough at last.

Here's June, July, August, September. Where to start... here we go...
