well 80% shouldnt have to go the emergency if they have mild cases. Containment has failed 70% of people will be infected, 80% will be mild. Only go to the hospital if you have stabbing chest pains or trouble breathing. All they do is send you home and say self quarantine. They give no drugs and no help. Just look at all the Canadian and american cases. Go home, self quarantine

They are a good tool to reduce the amount of viruses expelled by infected people, but my guess is they have almost a zero percent chance of protecting someone who is uninfected.

I did word that poorly, so to clarify:
80% mild case requires at least a 2 week quarantine after recovery, and so 2 weeks lost pay + whatever is lost during illness (seems like approx. 2 weeks, so 4 weeks total).
Even if you don't get sick, in areas that are shut down that means no work. No date nights, no rando shopping trip, no economic activity.
If you get sick, that's a whole healthcare burden of its own, and could the average American afford it? I think not.

Ive read many pages on this thread and all Ive seen are pieces based on opinion from people far removed from the actual virus and its study.

I am not saying it isn't a bio weapon but there is definitely no conclusive evidence that it is either and to present either side of the story as factual is bullshit.

Very good question. There are several factors that play into this:

1. The official numbers are lower than what I think is currently actually happening.
2. There is a lag in official numbers of up to 10 days- they are a snapshot in time.
3. Quarantine measures are reducing the full capability of the virus to spread by about half if it's unchecked potential.
4. Hospitals on a national and global scale are not currently saturated beyond capacity but this will change soon.
5. Sustained chain reaction outbreaks have not yet taken hold in countries outside of China. This may be about to change.
6. Global supply chains have not yet begun to feel strain and global panic has not yet set in. This is about to change.

My formula has been correct for a week now every single day. Unfortunately I think this will also change soon.

If sustained chain reaction H2H transmission takes hold in the West and if countries do not lock themselves down and completely isolate regional outbreak centers then the numbers will no longer follow a polynomial geometric expansion and will become exponential.

If you see any central location outside of China in Europe, Africa, North America grow to a number of 264 infected in a single metropolitan area, then a global and unstoppable pandemic will become inevitable.

This is when all is said and done, the number of infected will reach 3 Billion and the deaths from the virus alone would be in the hundreds of millions.

Disruption of infrastructure, supply chains and civil unrest will kill many more times what the virus ever could.

If this goes into a true global pandemic, survivors would be facing a reality where life will be as it once was in medieval times.

The models with these unfathomable numbers aren't wrong necessarily, it's just that reality has not materialized yet.

But if the conditions I stated are met, then yes, it is very plausible.
