I can confirm, a lot of discussions behind the "massive wall" that would freak the fuck out of most people. Met a woman at Walmart over the weekend who has access to behind the scenes in the ATL area- husband is medical, she is insurance. She said it is no joke and they are preparing for something huge. She was advising to make sure I had meds and disinfectants. But behind the scenes is serious. She was a typical polite southern upper class woman. No hysteria, but she was deadly serious. |

The proper calculation should be Dead/(Total Infected + Recovered) It doesn't make sense include those infected if we're being honest, as they could still die (or recover). Not to mention the "infected" number includes all those who have ever been infected, whether they have died or recovered. CFR = dead / (recovered+dead) So, 239 /1088+239 = 18.01% with those numbers Keep in mind deaths can happen fairly early on, while recoveries take quite a long time. This will inflate the death numbers. Mild cases that don't get noticed by the hospitals also inflate the death numbers. There are so many factors though, so I wouldn't stick to any percentage and say "here is the CFR." Just know it's dangerous What about the dead that doesn't get reported like in wuhan? Do you factor them? Nope. Nerds to fit my agenda. Just totally gloss over that and talk about the mild underreported. There are two sides to every coin in statistics. In South Korea they are seeing deaths in their homes ALREADY. It all equals out in statistics so your numbers without knowing mild and dead due to virus doesn't cause a big statistical difference or margin of error. It all state in equilibrium with the large sample we get in these exponential cases like Iran, SK, China, and Italy. Do you see where I said "There are so many factors though" ? There are some that make it go UP and DOWN. I have no agenda If the cruise ship has accurately reported numbers, so far it's showing the CFR is much lower than 18%. that's what I thought, too. turns out there's only 10 recovered so far and 6 dead. 37.5%. something like 70 have been sick over 30 days now, and another 600+ two weeks.  |
