Okay...

It is not just food supply issues.... nothing is coming in from China. So clothing is starting to become spotty.

I made sure to order socks and undies for us last month. This month I ordered two bras, two sports bras, and two blue jeans for next year (little man).... order refunded, stock depleted.

So get what you can in store. It’s going to get messy soon.

That's a good reminder... I need to get a new pair of boots, maybe two.
 Quoting: R. Wordsworth

I have been thinking of supply chain issues.

Food...looks OK. Will miss things like butter and cheese, but The Queen has already started some testing to make those from our cows' milk when they have calved. We have pecan trees; will try making pecan butter this year.

Oil and filters, spare parts for vehicles....will order some when I have a chance.

Fertilizer...got it last week! Enough for several years of farming.

Garden soil....almost used up my 21 yards I bought. Really should bite bullet and buy another 21 yard truck. I can plant another half acre of veggies.

Garden seeds for next year. Can also help out neighbors who decide to put in a garden later this summer if the supply has dried up.

Boots, clothing, etc....good supply. The Queen and I never threw anything away, so we have lots of old clothes for farming and gardening.

Animal feed....need to order about 1000 lbs. more, although we need less after slaughtering excess, unproductive stock. I will probably buy 500 lbs. of corn to have in case neighbors are starving. I can always give them some cornmeal (I have a good mill) and some beans.

Firearms and ammo...OK. I am going to give an AR and 1000 rounds to my grandson. Was so busy I missed his birthday last week. He is 10 and already shoots a .308 semi under his Father's supervision. I think he will be happy. Great kid!

How does this relate to the pandemic? It is the life that many may be FORCED to adopt. We may go back to our grandparents lifestyle where they were very self-sufficient by necessity.
 Quoting: darth

Our to do list this week includes seeds and more garden soil. And now, a few clothing items a size larger for a kid who hasn't finished growing and more powdered milk if I can find it.
Oh, and canning jars/equipment. I don't know what normal prices were, so I don't know if those prices have rocketed.
 Quoting: Moniker Shmoniker

I bought an All American pressure canner from Eartheasy a month ago. Ordered canning jars from Wally Mart.

However, they ran out of quart jars and canceled the order! That was over a month ago.

However, Uline.com had canning jars at at a better price. Amazon was gouging on prices.

This is what GLP does for us. Puts us ahead of the curve so we can SURVIVE.

The fall of man. What happens if it is realized that there is not escape or cure. Perhaps we can learn from the past.

Thucydides on the Plague of Athens

the plague marked the beginning of a decline to greater lawlessness in the city. People were more willing to dare to do things which they would not previously have admitted to enjoying, when they saw the sudden changes of fortune, as some who were prosperous suddenly died, and their property was immediately acquired by others who had previously been destitute.

So they thought it reasonable to concentrate on immediate profit and pleasure, believing that their bodies and their possessions alike would be short-lived. No one was willing to persevere in struggling for what was considered an honorable result, since he could not be sure that he would not perish before he achieved it.

What was pleasant in the short term, and what was in any way conducive to that, came to be accepted as honorable and useful. No fear of the gods or law of men had any restraining power, since it was judged to make no difference whether one was pious or not as all alike could be seen dying.

No one expected to live long enough to have to pay the penalty for his misdeeds: people tended much more to think that a sentence already decided was hanging over them, and that before it was executed, they might reasonably get some enjoyment out of life.

So the Athenians had fallen into the great misfortune and were being ground down by it, with people dying inside the city and the land being laid waste outside. (II.vii.3-54)

You need to take two, if you really want to get the stank off of you.

One when you get home first thing, then a second before you go to bed.

Anything made of leather must be segregated only for shit-plant use, it takes a week no matter what you do for the stank to get out of it.

Something like a pocket knife that's made of metal can just be rinsed off and it will be good, as long as you use HOT water.

I was just working at a poo plant today.

My soul smells right now...
 Quoting: R. Wordsworth

Word, that is alarming. The virus is in human waste. If you can smell it, there are particles in the air.

I mentioned this thousands of pages ago.

Sewer plant workers, plumbers, etc. may need full PPE, maybe even the space suit kind.
 Quoting: darth

At the shit plants, there are these settling ponds. It's where the poo first goes when it enters the facility, the heaviest of the solids drop out in the ponds, and then this sludge is sent to centrifuges than spin the water out of the turds to thicken up the sludge for processing.

To get from one part of the facility to the other, you have to walk over grating which is above these ponds, only a couple of feet or so. I have made this walk a dozen times in the past month, as have 90% of the employees of this facility. Also of note, this plant in in Connecticut... a COVID hotspot. And a major city, no less.

When you walk over the ponds, if a good wind picks up you can feel droplets hit your face. This has happened to me twice in the past month, I'm guessing many more times than that to the employees at the facility.

I don't know if anybody there has been tested, but nobody has gotten sick. These guys also deal with the raw sludge all the time, which hasn't been sanitized yet. So either this stuff can't be transmitted through poo, or we've all already been infected and are asymptomatic.

Honestly, I wonder if I got it during the now infamous "Fung Wah Bus Incident" and didn't even know it.

1dunno1
 Quoting: R. Wordsworth

I remember the infamous “Fung Wah Bus” incident. You told that story so well. Thank you for it, and I’m glad you survived it.

As for opening back up. I’m now of the mind that it simply doesn’t matter with the exception to process what raw materials are left and get them to the public so that we might have a chance to prepare for what is to come.

The destruction has already occurred at the economic foundation and all that is left is for the tower to fall.

Stay safe.

The financial effects are disastrous, of course.

The Fed and fedgov can prop up the stock and bond markets plus subsidize gov deficits for a while, but....

Eventually, a lot of individuals, companies, and governments, especially states and cities, are going BK.

Prez T needs to push through legislation making it easier for that to happen. A controlled demolition of the economy. Make it short and painful instead of long and drawn out.

Wipe out the debts and let people start over rebuilding their lives.

History lesson: America had its first real depression in 1783, IIRC. Britain had debtor's prisons and did not discharge debts at that time.

The new Congress passed bankruptcy laws. Entrepreneurs declared BK and started over immediately.

Economy rebounded.

Smart move.

Maybe i need another freezer to store it all.

I do have another freezer at my house up north.

And some sweet tea pecan pie and homemade wine where the peaches grow.

In my mothers brown Tupperware pitcher.

Song song of the south, sweet potato pie and shut my mouth.

Time to put the little man to bed.

Don't worry about the super virus.

I think it will soon mutate itself away.

And then everyone will be saying peace and safety.

Stay safe Hong Kong.

Freezers are starting to have severe shortages now. Act quick.

You can also get powdered whole egg, and with oil make mayonaise. :)

Amazon has some powdered egg, I got some earlier.

You can look at other sources too. There was a huge bulk one also. lol

Seems like powdered sour cream, etc are in stock also, but limited.

I think AC here brings up a valid point. If all this vaccine/666 talk is just to shift around money and further the Rothschild 300 year plan then perhaps we should pay closer attention to the dozen rounds of black plague that persisted for a thousand years and they're affect on society.

I've pondered the severity of the waves we're up against and just how disruptive they could be. Will they kill hundreds of thousands or millions in each major city and incite widespread riots, gang looting, raping, and pillaging? Or will the people at large abide by stay-home orders, curb the mass casualties, and allow a cure or treatment to form? Needless to say we are finding out as anyone's guess is as good as mine. We may even book looking at a hot war with CCP VS DJT's USA; who the fuck knows.

I think is bears good reference to consider AC's post none the less. If these waves intensify, and us GLP kin are among the few to make it through how should we conduct ourselves? Forego honor and respect for resources and more time as in Mad Max? Or should we continue to contribute towards a slowly crumbling society as in Children of Men? I'd wager we have about 12 months left to see if any valid treatment can keep up with the mutations and make our decisions then. Until that time, what say you GLPers? All for one and one for all; or all for ourselves?

Lemonade gives me heartburn though. Too acidic. Pepcid AC is running low. They tell me I can put a teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of water, that is supposed to relieve my heartburn,

Smart move.
 Quoting: darth

Good comments, Mr. Darth. I am an economics tard, and I have also worked in the bankruptcy field. You are absolutely correct....it needs to be short and painful. That did not happen in the Great Depression, and it was disastrous. I have zero confidence that it will be any different now.

Most have already spent their attention span and have left. Some others are looking for companionship during this time, I don’t fault them but do wish they would use a different thread sonww have an area to post and discuss the virus and associated disease as well as the anticipated impact.

Many are in the moment and don’t resalize the potential impact to the fabric of the psyche. We are facing very challenging times and how we manage these challenges will determine the final outcome.

It is becoming more clear to me that this disaster will take time to play out and it will take a toll on mankind beyond that of his breath.

All roads into a New Mexico city are closed over coronavirus

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham invoked the state's Riot Control Act on Friday to essentially lock down the city of Gallup after its mayor requested that she do so on Thursday. Under the act, all roads leading into Gallup are now closed off "to mitigate the uninhibited spread of COVID-19 in that city."
